Local Holiday Happenings in Central Florida

Happy December!

As we enter into a season of gift giving, gatherings, and glee, we wanted to share some local holiday happenings in Central Florida. Grab your calendar and pencil in some of these fun family-friendly activities. Maybe you’ll even be inspired to give the gift of an experience or weekend getaway this year! It’s time to get festive.

Upcoming Local Holiday Happenings

  • Winter On The Avenue in Winter Park: This Friday, December 3rd, from 5 to 9 p.m., Park Avenue is hosting a special event to kick off the holiday season. There will be a tree-lighting ceremony, carolers, live jazz music, and, of course, a visit from Santa Claus himself. While you’re there, you can stop in stores like Frank, New General, and Tugboat & the Bird and find the perfect gifts for your family and friends.

  • A Merry Winter Garden Light Show in Winter Garden: Grab your coziest coat and pour some hot cocoa to go! On Friday, December 18th from 6 to 9 p.m., take in a dazzling light show, projected onto the front of Winter Garden City Hall and synced to holiday music.

Family-Friendly Celebrations

  • SeaWorld® Christmas Celebration in Orlando: Now through January 2nd, the park is transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with over three million twinkling lights. Be entertained by the Sesame Street Christmas Parade (pictured above) and holiday fireworks or watch the ice-skating extravaganza Winter Wonderland on Ice. Plus, meet Santa Claus, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and other holiday friends!

  • Walt Disney World® Resort in Orlando: As if we need one more reason to celebrate, Mickey Mouse is marking his 50th anniversary in Central Florida. With new daytime and nighttime shows as well as attraction openings and perks for resort guests, your visit will be filled with surprises. Check out the new nighttime spectacular “Disney Enchantment,” featuring music, lighting, fireworks, and projection. There’s no doubt you and your loved ones will leave feeling inspired to believe in the power of magic. Plus, all four parks have added visual enhancements to their central icons, including Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle and the Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom.

  • Holidays at LEGOLAND® Florida Resort in Winter Haven: The holiday celebration at this 150-acre theme park is sure to impress the LEGO® lover in your life! During your stay, enjoy the giant LEGO Christmas tree, festive lights, seasonal shows, holiday characters, and more. Even better, if you book a stay at the Pirate Island Hotel or the LEGOLAND Hotel, each room includes a separate sleep area for kids as well as free Master Model Builder Workshops.

  • Weekend Getaway to the Waldorf Astoria Orlando: Need a break from the holiday hustle? Plan a weekend getaway at this beautiful hotel in downtown Orlando! If you’re there on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, make reservations for a four-course dinner at Bull & Bear, a selection of Chef’s favorites at La Luce, or a family buffet at Oscar’s®. Take advantage of the complimentary transportation to Walt Disney World and Disney Springs® for a kid-approved excursion.
