Love your neighbor as yourself. Mark 12:31

Dear Friend,

Looking back at 2020, most of us have overcome some pretty major challenges. Between the Coronavirus and the economic repercussions, the protests and riots, and the election that nobody liked, the physical isolation and social and political divisions have been wearing. This has added a mental health crisis that, per a CDC survey, has affected roughly 40% of respondents. February is Psychology month, to bring awareness to mental health and those who help.

Thankfully, it’s 2021! With a new year, let’s hope for a new perspective, a sense of caring, unity, and better times. It is time to focus on loving our neighbor as ourselves, putting other’s needs before our own, and showing kindness, patience, humility, and unity. Let’s help solve problems together. Let’s focus on the promise of the future. Let’s find our respective and collective strengths.

Did you know that having a pet can help with most of the above? Petting, holding, or cuddling a pet increases the levels of serotonin and dopamine, which are feel-good, calming brain chemicals. This reduces feelings of depression and loneliness while increasing self-esteem and happiness. There are many physical benefits to owning a pet, too. Rescuing an animal multiplies the benefits from you to a pet that you save.

Celebrate these special February days knowing that we, at The Urban Dog Group, love you.
